Rotary partners with Toastmasters for the fifth cohort of the Youth Elevation Scheme themed "Leadership and Public Speaking."
Rotary Club of Barbados has been actively combating juvenile delinquency through its partnership with the Juvenile Liaison Scheme since 2020. Their collaborative effort has given rise to the Youth Elevation Scheme (Y.E.S), a program designed to equip participants with essential social, interpersonal, and employability skills. Using diverse learning aids and activities, the initiative introduces young individuals to various facets of personal development.
In 2023, the fourth and fifth cohorts of the program reached fruition in March-April and October-December, respectively. The focus of the fourth installment, themed "Embracing Self through Positivity: Redefining Me," aimed to nurture the adolescent capacity of participants. It stimulated their abilities to recognize self-worth, fostering personal development, creativity, and a positive outlook for the future. The program provided a structured support mechanism to build character, self-esteem, and promote positivity.
For the fifth installment, in collaboration with Fusion Toastmasters Club, under the Rotary and Toastmasters International Alliance created in 2020 the focus was on "Leadership and Public Speaking." This segment empowered participants by enhancing self-awareness and developing leadership, communication and public speaking skills, contributing to the reshaping of their behavior. The programme has grown and now caters for up to forty participants between the ages of 9 to 16. The gradution ceremony was held on December 16th, 2023.
